Laura Baker only started riding mountain bikes at 29, the year before South Africa hosted the Soccer World Cup.

Since then, she's ridden much more than even the most ardent weekend warriors would dream of. Unafraid of challenges, Laura embarked on a Cape Epic only a year into her mountain bike journey.

"I started riding in 2009, with friends. You did the Gauteng day races. I enjoyed it and through work (Deloitte), I got a team entry. Riding the Cape Epic in 2010, after only a year of mountain biking was a true baptism of fire."
