At the peak of lockdown last year, most people attempted something creative to counter boredom and find some form of escapism.

I didn’t learn a new language. Or binge Netflix. Instead, I did something that appeared very simple before absorbing a considerable amount of my free time: designing a mountain bike.

All riders have experienced that moment of inspiration, looking at custom bike outside a coffee shop, and thought: ‘I could do that.’ After a decade riding mountain bikes and possessing what I thought was above average engineering literacy, I decided to do it.
