  • Karoo 2 has just seen a software upgrade, making it even better to use
  • This latest feature will assist you on those long climbs, with a flood of data
  • You can pace yourself much better, with the new Karoo 2 Climber feature

The Hammerhead Karoo range is one of the most desirable cycling computers you can own.

With a clear display, powerful software and intuitive functionality, it is a case of clever design meeting rider-friendly UX.

As with most devices, Hammerhead regularly releases software updates – and the latest Karoo 2 cycling computer download, is impressive.

Four-time Tour de France winner, and former Gauteng scholar,Chris Froome, has recently joined the board of Hammerhead. He is now an investor in the company and as you would expect from a multiple Grand Tour winner, Hammerhead takes his input seriously.

As part of the brand’s new Karoo 2 software update, there is a very handy Climber feature. Riders have the option to set the sensitivity of the Karoo 2’s Climber function, but any gradient of more than 3% elevation and 500mm in distance, will rank as a possible climb.

Removing the doubt, from your climbing experience

The Climber tab on your Karoo 2 will display in 100m segments, with each colour coded bar corresponding with gradient – brighter colours, indicating greater steepness.

Additional information, such as distance to go and remaining elevation, are displayed in real-time, which is rather useful for those riders who want to pace their cadence, on an unfamiliar climb. The Karoo 2 Climber upgrade is like having a rider or pro team car up ahead, relaying information about what to expect and removing doubt about your route and steepness.

Climbing is one of the great challenges in cycling, and many riders respond better to accurate data, instead of having to stare ahead and guess how much suffering or effort, is required.

In a world where we navigate much of life via screen, with graphics and graphs, the Karoo 2 cycling computer can now guide you along a familiar or unknown climb, with an encouraging stream of data.
