  • Liqui Moly now offers a range of cycling products in South Africa.
  • The German brand has used its vast lubricant experience to develop a bespoke cycling range.
  • Its bicycle range includes chain lubricants for all weather conditions.

German lubricant manufacturer Liqui Moly makes lubricants for anything from trucks to motorcycles. And it has used that experience to develop a cycling-specific range.

Liqui Moly derives from 'liquid' and 'molybdenum disulphide'. The company developed this formulation back in 1957 to protect car engines against wear.

With the surging price of cycling components and global supply chain issues, many cyclists are seeking to extend the lifespan of their drivetrain. And Liqui Moly’s experience in protecting high-load industrial engines, aims to help.

The brand’s cycling lubricants work on both bicycles and e-bikes. And as the saying goes: a clean bicycle is a fast bicycle

Take the frustration out of washing your bike(s)

Liqui Moly’s bike cleaner is a biodegradable product that quickly dissolves all kinds of cycling grime, is safe on paint and exotic materials and leaves no residue. The conveniently sized litre spray bottle is perfect for taking along to events and stage races. Spray the product on and wash away the dirt with a hosepipe.

The Bike Brake and Chain Cleaner use a specially selected solvent combination formulated for fast, effective cleaning and degreasing of chains and disc brakes. I  have used this product to clean out the bottom bracket shell of my mountain bike recently.

It did a wonderful job loosening accumulated grime, especially in the bottom bracket’s threads – which can be a nightmare to clean. Liqui Moly’s Bike Brake and Chain Cleaner also evaporates quickly, ideal for hard-to-reach areas that are difficult to dry with a rag.

Lube for the right reasons - and seasons

Different weather conditions require various lubricants to keep your drivetrain protected. Liqui Moly’s bike range comprises three chain lube products: a chain oil dry lube, chain oil wet lube, and bike chain spray, each specifically formulated for particular conditions and seasons.

Washing and tinkering on bicycles can be a dirty business. One of my favourite products from the Liqui Moly range is their liquid hand cleaning paste.

This hand cleaner contains just enough grit to remove even the stickiest of grease while not being harsh to your skin, even when washing with it repeatedly throughout the day.

A bike gloss spray wax has been designed to clean and preserve painted and coated surfaces and does a great job of eliminating light scratches. This product reduces the volume of mud that attaches to your bike, making for an easier post-ride cleaning routine.

Liqui Moly’s bike tyre fix is a great get-you-out jail card. The unique combination of active agents plugs tubeless and tubed tyres and inflates them simultaneously. Perfect for those riders who often forget to check the sealant levels in their tubeless wheels.
