Multiple South African cross-country mountain bike champion, Mariske Strauss, has signed with a new bike sponsor.

Giant South African has confirmed that Mariske is a new rider for the Taiwanese brand, and will be on its latest Liv Pique Advanced Pro 29er mountain bike.

Her debut race on the new bike will be the Hell of the South. The 31-year old will also be racing at the elite global level, campaigning UCI World Cup.

The Epic and everything else

Two events of specific significance for Mariske will be the Commonwealth games (in Birmingham) and the Cape Epic. As the mountain biking competition schedule normalizes after two years of pandemic disruption, Mariske expects to be busy.

"My race plans are a bit different this season. The UCI World Cups are still on the table, a bit later this season, in preparation for Commonwealth Games in late July."

"As for my local racing, the Tankwa Trek and Cape Epic are first up. I'm over the moon to be able to line up with Candice Lill again."

A carbon 100mm racing machine

Liv is the women's specific sub-brand of Giant. It leverages all the benefits of the Taiwanese cycling company, a global leader in composite frame technology.

Unlike many other cycling brands, Giant builds its own frames. This allows the company to control its bikes' technology trajectory and build quality. Unlike most rivals, who design their bikes, but contract the actual production to third-party suppliers.

Mariske's Liv Pique Advanced Pro 29er has 100mm of suspension travel at the front and rear.

It also features the best available Giant composite frame technology and the company's proven Maestro rear-suspension linkage.
