An Everesting challenge sees riders climb the equivalent of the height of Mount Everest. That is 8848m, in a single ride, on a single climb.

The rules state that the rider needs to descend the same way they ascended.

Knysna rider, Tyrone van Rooyen, set out to do four Everestings, a feat accomplished by only a handful of riders worldwide.

"I had done an Everesting, a 10 000m ride and a 20 000m ride, so doing four in a row was the next natural challenge," said van Rooyen.

When Everesting, the choice of route is critical.
