Alex Milner rode his first Cape Town Cycle Tour aged 10. And since then, the 38-year old Natte Valleij winemaker has never stopped riding.

During the early to mid-2000s, Alex raced for Maties and was a Western Province super league elite rider. The choice between attempting a pro racing career in Europe or winemaking, saw Alex choose conquering vineyards instead of Mont Ventoux.

From racing most of South Africa’s elite road events to bike touring in Europe and completing the Cape Epic, Alex has done it all. But one riding challenge had been haunting him since his student days: a journey across the Karoo, to Prieska.
