The Cape Town Cycle Tour (CTCT) attracts a fantastic diversity of riders. And bikes.

Ultralight road bikes. Mountain bikes. Tandems. Singlespeeds. All manner of bikes roll along the peninsula during a CTCT. But few rival the coolness factor of Nils Hansen’s mini-velo.

One of Cape Town’s most accomplished riders and bike shop owners, Nils’s mini-Velo rolls tiny 20-inch wheels, but has full-sized frame geometry. It looks odd but works a treat, evidenced by his strong finish at the 2021 CTCT, in 3:20.
