The Cape Epic is a pinnacle achievement for many mountain bikers. True to its billing as the world’s preeminent stage race, a Cape Epic entry isn’t cheap.

Priced at R105 000 per team, Cape Epic entries often require years of saving and budgeting for many riders who dream of earning that finisher’s medal. But price is only one barrier to entry. The other is scarcity.

Due to overwhelming global demand, Cape Epic entries consistently sell out in seconds. But if you are committed to riding the 2023 Cape Epic, the event’s apparel partner, Ciovita, has opened an opportunity.

The Woodstock cycling apparel brand offers a team entry for riders who join its Race to the Cape Epic competition. Riders can register on the Ciovita website, whereafter they become part of the Ciovita Strava club.

You don't have to be a Strava master to win...

Rider performances will be tracked and evaluated during a riding window from 15 August to 15 September. The more you ride as part of the Ciovita Strava club, the better your chances of winning that Cape Epic entry.

Want to increase your chances of winning? Riders who finish in the top five Ciovita Strava club leader boards during the four-week eligibility period, or those who win one of the weekly challenges, will be eligible for the final draw.

But eligibility won’t be limited only by peak performance. Beyond the riders who assert themselves during the weekly challenges, Ciovita will also select three entrants from its Strava club top 100 finishers, allowing for a fairer sampling.

The final winner will be chosen at Ciovita’s Stellenbosch retail venue during a lucky draw.
