Working towards exams can cause feelings of stress, especially if you are pursuing a degree at university.

It is even harder for those students who a fully committed to a job and cannot study for the whole day.

So I asked students how they manage to juggle school and work, here's what they said:

I am grateful that I got the opportunity to work, but it’s still so difficult to juggle work and school. I never thought it would be like this. Before I graduated, things were easier, I used to procrastinate some things so that I could study. So now that I'm working it's so difficult because work requires my time and I need to do it. I'm able to multitask and I think I’m skilled with that one. For example if I have work do and then I do it during my lunchtime, I'm able to catch up with school and then when I get home, I need to rest and then catch up with school.

I am doing my advanced diploma in Journalism, and I am a waitress at a local pub/restaurant. My working hours are quite reasonable except on weekends because I end up knocking off in the morning around 2am or 3am. When I get home, I must rest and then do my assignments and study. You must give yourself a boost and that push to remind yourself that you need to do your schoolwork because you need to pass. Your mental state gets triggered because of the pressure, it's too much pressure.

I am a final year law student at Unisa. I work from 6 am to 5 pm every day, Monday to Friday. Before I go to work, I make sure that I wake up two hours earlier and study. I don’t work far from where I stay so when I knock off, I make sure that I come back home straight so that I can cook and clean. I sleep late because I must study, mind you I have a child who needs to be taken care of. It's draining sometimes, I'm tired because of spending the whole night studying. It's my last year so I must study hard.
