Quiet quitting is the new workplace buzzword, but some critics are not on board.

You're working your fixed 9 to 5, completing your assigned tasks and doing nothing beyond this; no more responding to after-hours emails - you're prioritising a work-life balance. These are all used to describe “quiet quitting”, the new workplace trend sweeping the internet. 

On TikTok, the hashtag #quietquitting has gained millions of views. The new trend is also being talked about over on Twitter and LinkedIn.

Quiet-quitting has nothing to do with actually quitting your job. It involves doing the bare minimum at work and refusing to subscribe to the hustle culture mentality of “work is life”. Quiet quitters say taking this softer approach and not working additional work hours is important for their mental health, while others who’ve followed the trend say they simply refuse to work extra hours without pay.
