Ashley Tisdale has opened up about the "traumatic" criticism she faced after getting a nose job to correct a breathing issue.

The High School Musical actress had the rhinoplasty to correct her deviated septum back in 2007.

In a new post on her website, Frenshe, Ashley details shaming she received back then.

The 35-year-old said the operation didn't feel like that big a deal because she did it based on "serious health issues" and not to change her appearance.

"After several doctor's visits about my health issues, they also suggested shaving my "bump" down. I was young and didn't put much thought into it, so I decided, why not? It wasn't a big deal to me nor was it like I was dreaming of the day I'd get a nose job," she shares.

After publicly sharing the news of the procedure, she was scrutinised, judged and made to feel ashamed of her decision. The criticism left her feeling insecure. The actress, who is expecting her first child, concedes plastic surgery wasn't culturally accepted then like it is now.

She now wants to let go of that experience for the sake of her unborn child.

"At the end of the day, I'm having a daughter, and I hope her choices aren't met with judgment or shame," she adds.
