Kim was fully glam but totally faceless at the star-studded event held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, New York.
The 41-year-old went incognito in an all-black Balenciaga look that covered every inch of her body, including her face. Despite the modest look, the Skims founder pulled out all the stops on glam. Poking out of her mask was a high ponytail that fell nearly to the floor.
The black attire consisted of a long-sleeved turtleneck bodysuit with an oversized T-shirt dress with a pleated train. Kardashian completed the look with jersey boots, gloves, and a mask.

Since the event's theme was "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion", Kim shared on her Instagram page: "What's more American than a T-shirt head to toe?"
The mask Kim wore is identical to the ones her ex-husband Kanye West has been wearing during his Donda performances, therefore, some fans speculated that the man who walked beside Kim at the Met Gala was Kanye.

According to a source who spoke to People, the whole concept for Kim's look was Kanye. "Even though Kanye is not attending tonight, his presence will be felt on the carpet. Kanye introduced Kim to Demna and was instrumental in the newly formed relationship between her and Balenciaga," the source said.
"This look on Kim is like a new subculture and fashion statement. No logo, no face, but everyone knows it's her. Kanye gave her the courage to push creativity and people's imagination through art."

We've now come to know what Kim looked like under her face covering mask as the reality TV star's longtime make-up artist, Mario Dedivanovic, showed off his kit for the event on Instagram, pointing to KKW Beauty essentials such as a neutral eyeshadow palette and eyeliner.
He also shared snaps of Kim getting her face done for the event.
Meanwhile, Kanye briefly unfollowed his ex on Instagram, leaving his following at 11, from 12.
However, a day later, Kim was back on the list of people Kanye follows. Kanye previously unfollowed the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star, 40, and her sisters on Twitter in June.
