The pandemic has disrupted how we experience pregnancy, birth and the early months of raising babies and parents are no doubt struggling as their support networks have been removed.
Parent24 invited new moms to share their experience of the pandemic as they navigated pregnancy, birth and the early days of motherhood in the Covid-19 lockdown.
Mom of two, Mushoeda, shares her pandemic pregnancy with us, describing her fears for the new baby and the challenges she faced.
Her first child was diagnosed with an incurable, potentially life-altering genetic illness, and she describes facing the chance of the same fate for her second child, alone at each scan.
Adding to her challenges was her husband's unpredictable work schedule which sometimes kept him away from home when she needed him most, leading her to lean on the TV as the 'other parent ', while she became a 'hustle mommy' to manage a reasonable routine during the lockdown.
Many new parents experienced similar challenges over the last year, and Mushoeda shares her story so that they won't feel alone.
