Pack up the knits and coats, it’s time to breathe new life into your closet with splashes of summery tones. From pastels to neutrals and all the way to bold colours – nothing radiates summer energy like a well-coordinated outfit.
Styling icon Antoinette Degens is no stranger when it comes to adding colour to your wardrobe and is sharing her extensive expertise with us through Trenery’s latest ‘How To Wear’ campaign that promotes their SS21 collection.
Antoinette’s impressive reputation when it comes to the fashion industry has seen her work as a top stylist in the Dutch magazine industry through her studio Studio Degens. Her keen eye for bespoke and chic outfit pairings is also well known in her role as the previous Senior Fashion Editor at Dutch Elle and later the Fashion Director of Glamcult Independent Style Paper and contributor for Harper's Bazaar NL.

Trenery is putting this impressive fashionista’s tips and tricks for the perfect summer wardrobe right into your back pocket, as Antoinette shares her favourite ways to style and pair the collection's colours.
“I love combining different textures in the same tone,” she says. “ Styling a piece that has a puffed sleeve can add a zestful feminine detail, especially when combined perfectly with a flowing wide-leg trouser in the same tonal range.”

However, while playing with texture within one tonal range is a fun way to have an effortlessly chic look this summer, Antoinette explains how combining colours and tones can really elevate your wardrobe for those special occasions.

“The combination of earthy and bright colours matches seamlessly with all your favourite denim, navy, whites and beiges,” she says. Antoinette recommends inviting some fun and sunny hues, like one of this summer’s featured colours - marigold - for those with a more neutral wardrobe as it combines beautifully with lighter-toned linens and earthy items.
You also don’t have to stick to solid and plain blocks of colour when it comes to adding a summer flair to your look. A splash of colour from a colourful printed silk piece, paired with more neutral items can add a sophisticated edge to your outfit while still giving you that summer feeling.

Fashion and Beauty Editor, Noxolo Mafu, adds “This collection offers modern yet minimalist investment pieces for summer. The utilitarian style of the clothes offers a versatility to your styling choices that will be relevant beyond this season.”
Antoinette sums up the collection perfectly by saying “All of these looks add sophistication to your summer wardrobe, sparking a sense of adventure and renewed optimism.”
