Puseletso Kobedi from Midrand in Johannesburg has shared her encounter with Covid-19 in the National Institute for Communicable Diseases video series My Covid-19 Story.
The series shares the Covid-19 stories of South Africans from all walks of life and according to the mom of two, it had been her kids who first started showing symptoms.
"I went to Cape Town and when I came back my kids were sick," Kobedi said adding that she did not suspect it at first because "it's not really clear what Covid in children looks like".
Encouraged by her manager to get tested, Kobedi says she was shocked by the positive result.
"For some reason, you just don't think that you'll be the person that gets Covid. For me the most scariest part was the fact that my kids were sick first, so chances are that they had Covid first," she says.
She went on to describe feelings of shame and even guilt and her family's difficult recovery.
Puseletso also urged South Africans to take the necessary precautions at all times.
