It's been a while since the Chopra Jonas' shared anything about their baby. Their last announcement came in January when they first shared that they had welcomed a child together via surrogate.

Revealing the reason for their long silence, the new parents took to Instagram on Mother's Day, posting a heart-warming family portrait.

In a lengthy caption, the couple dubbed their baby girl "a badass," sharing that their newborn was "finally home" after spending more than 100 days in hospital.

In the emotional post, described their first go at parenting as a "rollercoaster" and included details about just how "challenging" the first few months of their daughter's life has been.

"Every family's journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is".

The picture shows Priyanka and Nick embracing their baby girl, who, according to reports, is named Malti Marie.

'So grateful'

The couple went on to thank the medical team and family for their support.

"Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers and caretakers in my life and out there. You make it look so easy," Priyanka added.

Nick praised his wife, saying she's "already an incredible mother".

"Babe, you inspire me in every way, and you are taking to this new role with such ease and steadiness. I am so grateful to be on this journey with you," Nick wrote.

Family and friends of the couple shared their well wishes with the couple.

"Seeing the both of you like this the last three months has been both hard and inspiring.... I saw a soldier in the hospital - You," said Priyanka's cousin, Parineeti Chopra.

"Happy Mothers Day, Priyanka! She really did get her strength from her Muma[sic]! Blessings on Blessings! Love and hugs," commented a close friend of the couple, Anusha Dandekar.

'When the time is right'

The couple has been married for four years and has been candid about their desire to have children together ever since.

"I definitely want to be a father someday.... I've seen a lot of life at an early age, and I hope to be able to share that with a kid of my own someday," Nick said during a podcast interview shortly after getting married.

Speaking to People Magazine,  Priyanka shared the same wish for the future.

"I always say, 'Man proposes, God disposes.' So I'm not taking any chances... We definitely want kids, and when the time is right, it will happen".

Clearly, that time has come.
