Big Brother Mzansi season 3 winner Mphowabadimo defended her relationship with former housemate and now husband Themba 'Broly' Mabaso following the debut episode of his reality show, Themba: My Inked World.
The reality show premiered on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) on Friday at 20:00. Upon its premiere, the couple found themselves the talk of the town on social media as people weighed in on the first episode and the teaser of what was still to come this season.
In the episode, Mphowabadimo opened up about how she and Mabaso only got to know each other properly when they left the Big Brother house. Viewers also got a glimpse of Mabaso as he began rebuilding his tattoo parlour with his partners and as a father to his two children from a previous relationship.
Taking to social media via Instagram Live, Mphowabadimo said she "just wanted to clarify bullshit".
"Relationships are never easy for anybody, but just relax, guys," she said in the video. "We're in February, but now you are watching things that were happening prior, and remember, a show needs to give you igagang (drama)."
Mphowabadimo further said, "if he's passing by, let him pass by", adding that it would not be the end of the world. She said she was not stressed by forcing a man to love or stay with her but by notifications from the bank instead.
She said:
Mabaso's former partner and the mother of his two children, Nqobile Khuzwayo, made an appearance in the episode. Khuzwayo said she and Mabaso were allegedly still in a relationship when he entered the Big Brother Mzansi house. She added that Mabaso told her he would not get into a relationship while in the house.
What had people talking was the preview of what viewers could expect from the remainder of the show's first season. In it, a teary-eyed Mphowabadimo complained about how Mabaso reportedly did not want to grow up, how he humiliated her and Mabaso's challenges with Khuzwayo.
Addressing social media critics, she asked them to let her and Mabaso live their lives.
She said:
About the reality show, which she admitted to having not yet watched, Mphowabadimo said, "it's a very, very nice show".
"The production, everything invested there, was very good," she said. "I have nothing whatsoever to say that's negative."
