The Miss South Africa Organisation has apologised after entries for the 2023 beauty pageant opening were delayed.

Entries were initially scheduled to open on Monday, 13 March; however, in a statement on social media, Stephanie Weil, CEO of the Miss South Africa Organisation, said they "need a little more time".

"I know that it is really exciting that we are launching Miss South Africa 2023 entries, and I am so excited to launch it with you. It is coming soon. Just note that we are doing something so big, so revolutionary, that we need a little more time."

Weil added that in the interim, the organisation would launch "empowerment workshops" to prepare those wanting to enter.

"While we are ensuring our 2023 campaign is our most successful year yet, we would like to make use of this period to spend some time together online in order to educate and prepare all our entrants as best as we possibly can," reads the caption of the video statement.

"We have some great online sessions, tips and info that we can't wait to share with you!"

South Africa will soon be searching for Miss South Africa 2023 to follow in the footsteps of reigning queen Ndavi Nokeri.

Nokeri, the 23-year-old from Tzaneen, Limpopo, was crowned Miss South Africa 2022 at a glittering pageant finale in August 2022.

She also represented South Africa at the Miss Universe pageant in January and placed in the top 16.
