
"We are coming!", Viola Davis captioned a new picture from the upcoming film The Woman King.
The Academy Award winner shared the picture on her Instagram account to announce the 16 September release date of the film.

The Woman King, filmed in South Africa, also stars Thuso Mbedu, John Boyega, Lashana Lynch and several South African actors, including Siv Ngesi and former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi who will make her film debut.

The historical epic directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood is inspired by true events that took place in The Kingdom of Dahomey, one of the most powerful states of Africa in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Davis was awarded CinemaCon's inaugural trailblazer prize last month
During her acceptance speech, she called the movie, which she also produced, her 'magnum opus' (great work), reports AFP.
"I wanted to be a producer who championed those stories with people with a history that looked like me," she said.
