Hold your hats and clutch your pearls because it will be a show to remember when the fifth South African instalment of the Real Housewives franchise premieres at the beginning of next month.
The Real Housewives of Gqeberha (RHOGQ), premiering on Friday, 3 February on 1Magic (DStv 103) at 20:30, will show viewers a side of the coastal city they have not seen before. The housewives include Norma Nicol, Buli G Ngomane, Liz Prins, Unathi Faku and Ashleigh Mather.
Norma Nicol
When career-focused and fierce, Nicol is not running things as an events planner at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, she is a dedicated mom and wife married into Ghanaian royalty.
Buli G Ngomane
A former Idols SA contestant, in-demand MC, high-end events planner, brand ambassador, award-winning businesswoman and now 'Real Housewife', charismatic Buli boasts an impressive CV.
Liz Prins
The dedicated mom, socialite and construction project manager who loves jogging is a straight shooter but is softer than she seems beneath her exterior. Prins, who also sold her company for eight figures, is learning to navigate life without her husband following his recent death.
Unathi Faku
The self-proclaimed royalty of Gqeberha is a successful salon owner and wife of the city's former mayor who is comfortable in the public eye and having her every move watched. She is also a gym lover and a dedicated and doting mother.
Ashleigh Mather
Fresh-faced, and sweetheart of the group, Mather is a wife and mom in the fast-paced fashion industry, but not a pushover. Her family owns one of the city's biggest clubs, so she certainly has a wild side that might catch her castmates by surprise.
"Since its debut in 2017, the local Real Housewives universe has been a hit with our audiences, bringing drama, wit and glamour to our screens. Each instalment has been a hot topic of discussion for viewers, constantly trending online and keeping audiences engaged," says M-Net local entertainment channels director Shirley Adonisi in a press statement.
"We're excited to expand into the city of Gqeberha, bringing fresh faces into a world our viewers love. We're keen to see how audiences resonate with this newest instalment."
