Zapiro has to be South Africa’s leading political cartoonist, and the Madam & Eve team, Steve Francis and Rico, are among our most beloved – we’re following the adventures of Madam, Eve, Mother Anderson, Thuli and the hadedas into their fourth decade (and there are some political cartoons too). As the new collections of Zapiro’s and Francis and Rico’s toons appear for the holidays, to help you look back in laughter on the year gone by, we asked them to pick their favourite cartoons from each book and tell us why they feel they hit the spot.
