News24 Books editor Shaun de Waal catches up with South African author Neil Sonnekus, who now lives on the island Waiheke, about his upcoming work and decision to publish two novels in one.

Neil Sonnekus is staying on an island off an island – Waiheke, off the coast of New Zealand.

The South African novelist with a background in scriptwriting and journalism is, at present, working as a bus driver. He was "disestablished" from media house Fairfax, where he had been working as a sub-editor. (To celebrate that, he made a short film, The John, with his old mate, Shaun Taylor, and Jonathan Brugh, who plays Deacon in the cult Kiwi hit What We Do in the Shadows.)
