If you’re looking for cycling content over the holiday season, we’ve got you covered.

We’ve curated a list of four excellent documentaries about cycling that you can stream online right now. If the rest of the family has the TV occupied, you can easily watch these films on your phone or tablet.

Four must-watch cycling doccies:

1) Icarus (Netflix)

Icarus is a 2017 American documentary film by Bryan Fogel, which chronicles Fogel's exploration of the option of doping to win an amateur cycling race and happening upon a major international doping scandal when he asks for the help of Grigory Rodchenkov, the head of the Russian anti-doping laboratory. It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary.

2) Pedal the World (Netflix)

Over the course of one memorable and adventure-filled year, Felix Starck documents his 18 000km bicycle journey across 22 countries. About his journey Felix said: "What is the meaning of life? I asked myself almost every day before I left, so I decided to get to the bottom of it. I wanted to explore the world on my own - on a bicycle. Untrained, I set off in June 2013 with over 55 kg of luggage and a video camera."

3) The Least Expected Day – Inside the Movistar Team 2019 (Netflix)

The Least Expected Day: Inside the Movistar Team 2019 is a documentary series produced by Netflix to give an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the riders in the Movistar Team. The original Spanish title for the series is El Día Menos Pensado. The series covers the 2019 UCI World Tour and premiered on 27 March 2020.

4) Peak (Showmax) 

Olympic cyclist and team principal of NTT Pro Cycling, Doug Ryder dreamed of taking an African team to the Tour de France. Nobody believed it was possible – until he succeeded in 2015, with the MTN-Qhubeka team making history as the first African team to take part in the elite event. Reflecting incredible highs and dramatic lows, this 50-minute documentary takes viewers on Ryder and the MTN-Qhubeka team’s extraordinary journey as they summit the highest peaks in the cycling world.
