- You can now embrace your denim desire on the trail.
- Ripton & Co’s drift overalls are great for the workshop or on the bike.
- They are designed to be entirely comfortable and usable as cycling kit.
Cyclists might obsess about grams and tiny aerodynamic details, but a lot of riding apparel is worn for the pure principle of fashion. Instead of function.
If it feels comfortable and looks great, there is usually strong rider approval. For some cyclists, the fringe fashion movement is their calling in terms of rider attire and that means active denim.
Ripton & Co is a Coloradoan outdoor brand that prides itself on scrappy rebelliousness and active denim.
It debuted a year ago, with a range of performance fabric jean shorts. These ‘jorts’ soon became one of the distinguishing fashion items for discerning road, gravel and mountain bikers during the 2019/2020 season.
Work and ride with these denims
With a year of success and brand equity, Ripton & Co’s confidence has grown. The company’s latest development are activity overalls. And yes, these can be used for when you have to paint the roof, fix a fence on the smallholding or prime an ancient Karoo windpump.
Beyond their workplace utility, these new drift overalls are fully functional riding wear too. Ripton & Co has styled them to look like a classic labourer’s dungaree, but the fabrics, cut and ergonomics make them completely suited to mountain biking or commuter cycling.
Using double-texture denim, these overalls are adequately rugged, but also contain 28% weft stretch fabric, to remain comfortable when a wearer is being active. This is what allows you to pedal a bike in them.
The pockets are meshed to enhance airflow and there are oversized elastic straps, to reduce shoulder pressure and keep the drift overalls comfortably in place.
If you are an artisanal baker, carpenter, or anything else that involves not sitting behind a laptop all day, these drift overalls can make a great deal of sense. They are sufficiently rugged to resists slips and spills in the workshop, and comfortable enough, to allow bicycle commuting from home to work.
