• LC 500 Convertible revealed
• This Lexus will be powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine
• Local debut scheduled for 2021
Lexus released the first images of its forthcoming LC 500 Convertible. Based on the ultra-beautiful LC Coupé, the car manages to retain all the beauty and essence of its sibling.
According to Lexus, the LC Coupé's design team had one task: to create the world's most beautiful open-top car. From what we can gather, they've managed to do it, but the task wasn't as easy as it looks. With good reason!
Chief designer, Tadao Mori, explains: "Few convertibles are stylish and elegant when the roof is open and when it is closed. We put maximum effort into realising the same beautiful roofline for the LC Convertible as for the coupe."

Attention to detail
Lexus says that the cloth roof will be available in two colours, beige and black. This folding roof will boast an extra fold to fit seamlessly between the suspension towers. The A-pillars, says Lexus, had to be in clear view because they are such accentuating features of the car; whether the roof is up or down.
Inside, the seats have a unique quilt pattern, as well as three different diameters that appear to fade away progressively.
Powering this sweltering machine is a naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine that produces 351kW and 540Nm. A 10-speed DirectShift 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. Lexus says: "Power output is tuned according to driving style, with smooth acceleration character during normal commuting and aggression at the limit when the driver desires."
Lexus will introduce the LC 500 Convertible locally in 2021.
