Put a stop to sinusitis


The average adult has three to four upper respiratory infections each year, about 1% of which are complicated by sinusitis. Once a sinus infection has been treated, it is important to try to prevent future infections. The more frequently sinus infections occur, the more likely future surgery becomes.

Take action:
Treat colds and allergies promptly; blow your nose gently – do not close one nostril when blowing your nose; drink plenty of extra fluids when you have a cold, to help keep mucus draining; and stop smoking - smokers are more prone to sinusitis.
