SAMA congratulates new HIV/Aids advisor

The SA Medical Association (Sama) congratulated Nono Simelela, who has been appointed in the presidency as advisor on HIV/Aids.

It was evident that the presidency was serious about tackling the HIV/Aids pandemic, Sama chairman Norman Mabasa said. Simelela, who was previously the CEO of the SA National Aids Council, was knowledgeable and passionate about the HIV/Aids pandemic.

"The presidency couldn't have made a better choice than Dr Simelela. It is clear that we have indeed moved away from a period where government used to be seen as being soundless when it came to tackling the HIV/Aids pandemic.

"We thus wish to congratulate the president and deputy president in making this well-informed decision," Mabasa said. (Sapa/ June 2011)
