News24 Life is expanding its bespoke lifestyle offering on by adding a new section exclusively dedicated to wine.

Joining its other specialised sections like entertainment, cycling, motoring, books, arts, relationships, and wellness, the newly added content category will be updated weekly with the latest from the wine world.

Daléne Fourie has been appointed as News24's first-ever wine editor.

Born in Somerset West, Fourie matriculated at the International School of Tanganyika in Tanzania and studied journalism in the US and UK. Fourie has over 10 years of experience in the South African wine industry and was part of the founding team and chief marketing officer of Port2Port, the online fine wine marketplace.

"I was afforded a front-row seat to the evolution of the industry to my great delight. At Port2Port I established a series of stories and videos titled Rooted that allowed me an intimate look at the people behind the wine. I was hooked. I attained my WSET level two badge and am in the process of completing level three, committed to unravelling the great intricacies of South African wine," Fourie said.

She added, "Heading up News24's latest vertical on wine, I intend to bring you not only the people behind the wine but celebrate the incredible diversity contained within our little slice of Africa and the diehard spirit that has secured our place as one of the most exciting wine-producing countries in the world to date."

"Our lifestyle offering has undergone a dramatic metamorphosis over the last year as we doubled down on our promise of offering readers quality and trusted news. Thanks to our subscribers, we're able to see this type of growth and expand on our content offering."
