Following DJ Fresh’s departure from Metro FM, the station is said to be eyeing afternoon drive host Mo Flava to fill his spot on the breakfast show.
According to a Sunday World Mo Flava will soon replace DJ Fresh on the show.
When Move! contacted the SABC, they wouldn’t confirm nor deny the rumour and thus couldn’t answer our question about who will take over the slot. However, they did promise that all will be revealed in due time.
“The SABC will communicate in due course regarding who will take over the programme,” said SABC spokesperson Vuyo Mthembu.
The Soweto-born Mo Flava embarked on a media studies diploma at Boston Media House, majoring in radio broadcasting and programming, as well as journalism. He also has a Diploma in Media Studies.
Mo Flava has hosted both the breakfast and the afternoon drive radio show on YFM for an accumulative eight years.
DJ Fresh was shown the door after the he was "unscheduled" and subsequently fired from the SABC radio station after an "unfortunate choice of words" were said on air in June.
His co-host Relebogile Mabotja has since been holding the fort. However, fans of the show have not been pleased with her and the show despite SABC adding surprise guest co-hosts such as Jub Jub and Tol Ass Mo.
Fans took to social media to air their frustrations about what is going on at Metro FM’s breakfast show. Listeners even complained that they can barely recognise or identify with the show now. Another complaint has been Relebogile’s attitude towards the show’s listeners such as cutting calls. This has led to some listeners wanting to stations if nothing is done about the current situation.
