Despite having just four recorded albums and 15 years in the industry, songbird Simphiwe Dana has cast her name in stone as a legend in South Africa’s showbiz.

More than a decade into her career, Simphiwe Dana remains a hurricane of success, enlightenment, upliftment and soul-stirring entertainment. This weekend, 2 March, Simphiwe is ready to perform for her fans and supporters at the Simphiwe Dana Annual Congregation live at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City. This performance is not only significant due to the fact that Simphiwe is celebrating 15 years in showbiz, it is her first since her successful recovery from vocal surgery and is set to be a very moving and memorable one.
GROOMING YOUNG TALENT
Another milestone for Simphiwe this year is scoring a major and lucrative deal with Universal Music where she will not only produce her own albums but will also partner with the record label to identify, develop and groom the young, up-and-coming talent. This role is fitting considering that Simphiwe Dana’s influence that her music has been incorporated into the curriculum at Oxford University, no small feat for even the most established of musician considering that to date Simphiwe has only released 4 studio albums and 2 Live DVD’s.
AMONG THE GREATS
The Bassline Live Series has grown in popularity over the past few years and is host to the cream of the crop artists such as the late Zimbabwean legend Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi, The Soil, and living legend Tsepo Tshola.
