The leader of the Tigray People's Liberation Front, (TPLF) Gebremicheal Debretsion has rejected the 72 hours ultimatum issued by the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for the dissident region Tigray to surrender.
Ahmed on Monday gave Tigrayan regional forces 72 hours to surrender, failing which, the military would begin an offensive on the regional capital of Mekelle.
Conflict in the region has left some 2.3 million children in urgent need of assistance and thousands more at risk in refugee camps, the UN children's agency said on Friday.
