We will see much political heat being generated, smear campaigns in Magashule aligned media waged and public shows of force. It is meant to distract and detract, but should not do so, writes Pieter du Toit.

The significance of the decision by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to charge Ace Magashule, the ANC's highest paid permanent employee, cannot be overstated.

It will draw political fire from all quarters, the integrity of the institution and those prosecuting the case will be relentlessly attacked and political pressure - both overt and covert - will be enormous.
