Police destroyed more than 2 065 firearms in Port Elizabeth today.
“At least 848 of these have been voluntarily surrendered. The other 1?217 were confiscated by the state and had been used in criminal activities,” said Lieutenant Colonel Sibongile Soci.
The firearms included rifles, shotguns and handguns.
Nearly 40?000 firearms have been destroyed by police in the province since 2004, said Soci.
