28 injured in KwaMashu crashes

Twenty-eight people have been injured in KwaMashu, Durban, in yet another minibus taxi crash.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Jeff Wicks said a fully laden minibus and a bakkie crashed into each other on the Durban-bound carriageway of the M25 near the Bridge City shopping complex this morning.

Both vehicles veered off the road. Twenty-four people from the taxi and bakkie managed to remove themselves from the wreckage.

While paramedics were attending to them a bus crashed with a car that had slowed down to view the accident.

“Four occupants of the car were injured as the vehicle was pushed from the road,” said Wicks.

The injured were stabilised and transported to various hospitals and clinics.

Yesterday President Jacob Zuma expressed concern over the recent spate of accidents involving taxis.
