The ANC at Parliament on Tuesday announced the appointment of 16 new committee chairpersons, cluster convenors and whips.
The latest appointments, which follow similar announcements late last year, “means that we are beginning this year with a full complement of leaders”, the office of the party’s chief whip said in a statement issued after a special midday caucus meeting.
The new appointments include:
» Veteran MP Ben Turok, who will chair the Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests;
» MP Beauty Dambuza, appointed convenor of the Social Transformation Cluster; and,
» MP Lydia Chikunga, appointed convenor of the Peace and Security Cluster.
A further 13 members were appointed as committee whips.
They include Linda Moss, Arthur Moloto, Andre Gaum, Mamaloko Kubayi, Gerhardus Koornhof, Nomalungelo Gina, Stella Ndabeni, Alpheus Maziya, Beatrice Ngcobo, Jonas Sibanyoni, Kgwaridi Manamela, Jabu Sosibo and Ntombikayise Sibhida.
