ANC concerned about Tutu hospitalisation

The ANC says it has learnt “with concern” that Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu was admitted to hospital.

Tutu checked into a Cape Town hospital today for non-surgical treatment and tests related to an ongoing infection, AFP reported.

“He was in good spirits and full of praise for the care he receives from an exceptional team of doctors,” said a statement from the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation.

“The non-surgical treatment is expected to take five days.”

In a statement, the ANC wished Tutu a speedy recovery. “We ... trust that he will soon resume his noble duties in the transformative socio-economic agenda of our country,” spokesperson Jackson Mthembu said.
