Another SABC board member resigns

There are now only two SABC board members remaining following the resignation of academic Pippa Green.

Parliament’s portfolio committee on communications chairperson Sikhumbuzo Kholwane announced that Green, who is out of the country, sent her a message this morning informing him of her decision.

Only Claire O’Neil and Suzanne Vos remain on the SABC board. Green is a former SABC journalist.

Vos is present in Parliament today, where Communications Minister Dina Pule is briefing the committee on the chaos at the SABC.

Earlier, Pule told the committee that former chairperson Dr Ben Ngubane was angry at her failure to remove board member Cawe Mahlati.

But Pule indicated that she did not have powers to fire board members.
