Another SABC board member resigns

SABC board member Bongani Khumalo has resigned, the department of communications said today.

“The minister of communications [Faith Muthambi] has confirmed that she has received Dr Khumalo's letter of resignation,” department spokesperson Ayanda Hollow said.

He said the minister was following due process in considering the resignation.

Khumalo’s resignation comes less than a month after SABC board chairwoman Ellen Tshabalala resigned.

Tshabalala had been under fire for not providing proof of her academic qualifications, as requested by a parliamentary committee.

Last year, the public broadcaster’s CEO Lulama Mokhobo resigned, while chief finananial officer Gugu Duda was fired for misconduct.
