The two men accused of raping and murdering Bredasdorp teenager Anene Booysen will appear in the Bredasdorp Magistrates’ Court.
Johannes Kana (21) appeared in court yesterday, with a towel covering his face. The case was rolled over to today, when he will appear with his alleged accomplice, 22-year-old Jonathan Davids. Both are in custody.
National Prosecuting Authority Western Cape spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said the case would eventually reach the high court, where stiffer sentences are imposed. He said the State would oppose bail.
Booysen (17) was gang-raped and disembowelled after visiting a club almost two weeks ago. She was found at the Asla construction site, where she worked, not far from her RDP home, and died later in hospital.
Three men were arrested, but one was later released because of a lack of evidence.
Booysen’s rape has been widely condemned.
