By the book: Pistorius story comes to life

While Hollywood mulls its casting choices and rushes scripts through production in a bid to make Oscar Pistorius’ rise and fall a silver screen reality, journalists and authors are scrambling to tell the story in print.

Author Laurianne Claase, who wrote Caught Out: Cricket Match-Fixing, has published Pieces of the Puzzle: A Guide to the Oscar and Reeva Case as an e-book on Amazon.

Claase said this was intended as “a handbook” for anyone following the story of Pistorius and his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp’s death, whether it is found to be accidental or deliberate.

Claase said she intended to publish a sequel once Pistorius’ trial – set to start in June – was over.

Rumours are rife in the publishing world that John Carlin, who wrote Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Made a Nation, and who worked with tennis star Rafael Nadal on his autobiography, has signed a deal to publish a book about Pistorius, the killing and the trial.

Closer to home, EyeWitness News journalists Mandy Wiener and Barry Bateman have signed a book deal with Pan Macmillan to write Behind The Door: The Oscar and Reeva Story.

They say this account will only be published once the trial is over.

Zebra Press, an imprint of Random House Struik, is publishing No More Heroes, by former Rapport journalist Gavin Prins and his colleague Jacques Steenkamp.
