Cwele back at work

Convicted drug dealer Sheryl Cwele was reportedly back at work at the Hibiscus Coast municipality.

Cwele and co-accused Frank Nabolisa were found guilty of drug dealing and sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Pietermaritzburg High Court last week.

Municipal manager S’bu Mkhize told a daily newspaper that Cwele spent half the day at work.

But her office said she did not report for duty, instead saying she attended a municipal management committee meeting held there every Monday. She is the director of health services at the municipality.

Mkhize refused to say when the decision about Cwele’s employment would be taken.

“I am moving as fast as I can with this matter ... so I can continue with service delivery. The more I tell you, the more I kill the process,” he said.

Cwele and Nabolisa will appeal their convictions.
