D’Low hits the political stage

Cape Town musician Deen Low, who has been described as the man with

the zaniest hairstyle in showbiz, is to contest a by-election in the city.

Low, better known by his stage name D’Low, said he would stand as

an independent in the July 21 poll in Ward 99, which includes part of Mitchell’s

Plain and Khayelitsha.

Low, who wears his hair in knobs sticking up from his skull, is a

singer who performs a range of styles from fusion to funk R&B, easy

listening and even a cross-over into kwaito.

He says he has been active in the Mitchells Plain community for

almost 20 years, running soup kitchens and performing free of charge at

fundraising events.
