Durban soccer fan dies of heart attack

A 75-year-old soccer fan from Durban’s Overport suburb died of a

heart attack at Moses Mabhida Stadium minutes before the start of the Australia

versus Germany game yesterday.

“He was about to enter the stadium when he collapsed. He was

declared dead by paramedics. We believe that he died of a heart attack. He was

from Overport,” the police’s Brigadier Phindile Radebe said.

The man was entering the stadium with other people believed to be

his relatives when he collapsed.

“We believe that they were his relatives or friends because it was

easy to identify him and to find where he lived.

“It was just a natural death,” said Radebe.
