The ANC in the Free State has postponed its provincial conference.
This after the Provincial Task Team announced in January that the conference would take place on February 23 2013. The task team is responsible for the preparations for the provincial conference during which a new provincial leadership will be elected.
The ANC provincial executive committee was dissolved and the conference where the members had been elected was nullified by the Constitutional Court after six disgruntled ANC members in the province approached the court.
But despite sending out an earlier statement confirming the February 23 conference date, Oupa Khoabane, ANC provincial spokesperson, has denied that it was a postponement.
“We (only) said (previously) if the necessary processes are completed by this weekend then the conference will take place,” he said.
Khoabane said the period for branches to query the auditing process has been extended and branches can now hold their branch general meetings.
“The conference is going to take place on April 6 2013,” he said.
