KZN teacher held for sexual assault

A teacher from a school in Melmoth will appear in court today for indecently assaulting five pupils.

“The boys were individually approached by their teacher, who invited them to his place of residence to sleep over,” KwaZulu-Natal police captain Thulani Zwane said.

Zwane said the boys had slept over at the teacher’s house at various times since February. While there, the teacher make sexual advances.

The teacher was arrested when one of the boys reported the matter to his headmaster this week.

“We intend to oppose the granting of bail to the suspect and encourage any victim of this alleged unacceptable conduct by the educator to come forward,” said Zwane.
