Max Clifford spins for a granny call girl

Clifford has been at the forefront of a chorus of sceptics in the UK questioning whether Dewani will receive a fair trial in South Africa. On Friday he pounced on comments by Police General Bheki Cele – referring to the 30-year-old murder accused as a “monkey” – to drive home this point.

While Clifford has not missed an opportunity to proclaim his client’s innocence, his very involvement in the matter has raised questions in the speculation after Anni Dewani’s murder.

The PR guru stepped in as the whisperings of Dewani’s alleged role in the killing started to surface, although the care homes owner does not quite fit the bill of Clifford’s average client.

In the early years, he worked with the Beatles, Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra, but Clifford has since become known for brokering kiss-and-tell scoops in the tabloids.
