Media out in full force for Cup opening

There will be over 2 000 journalists and more than 400

photographers covering the opening World Cup Group A match between Bafana Bafana

and Mexico at Soccer City today.

Kick off is at 4pm.


All media ticket allocations had been taken by journalists from

major local and international news agencies and major newspapers worldwide, Fifa

media officer Siya Sangweni said.


The match has been sold out with 94 700 tickets snapped up for the

first-ever World Cup match on African soil.


Sangweni said: “The interest from the media has been amazing. The

media tribune will be full on Friday (today).”
