Most Cup tourists from SADC countries

Of the 682 317 foreigners who have entered the country since the

beginning of June, most were from Southern African Development Community (SADC)

countries, Home Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma said today.

Briefing the media in Pretoria, she said visitors were mainly from

Lesotho followed by Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland and Botswana.

The other dominant countries were the United Kingdom, United

States, Germany, Australia, Mexico and Brazil.

She said from June 1 to June 13, a total of 456 423 travellers

entered the country’s ports, with an additional 226 084 foreigners between June

13 and June 21.

Dlamini-Zuma said that to date there had been 12 157 cases of

people overstaying entry conditions, abusing permits or reporting lost and

stolen passports.
