A new provincial media centre will be set up in Gauteng in a bid by the SA Police Service (SAPS) to improve communication with the media.
SAPS director of communications, Brigadier Shane van der Berg, said today that the centre would be open for 24 hours with skilled personnel specialising in providing the media with information.
“The time for excuses is gone. We’ll have people available to deal with the media, 365 days year and 24 hours a day.”
Van der Berg said this was to ensure a professional service by the police to the media.
